Program Panel Members are community volunteers who assist in making funding recommendations for United Way of Monroe County, based on a comprehensive review of agency applications and site visits and/or presentations from non-profit applicants. The focus of these reviews is on program outcomes with measurable results, and program quality that addresses the needs of the community as per United Way’s strategic plan and its three Impact Initiatives (visit UnitedWayMonroe.org/initiatives for more details).

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly review applications submitted by agencies based on a specified evaluation criteria provided by United Way of Monroe County.
  • Attend and participate at an orientation, first review meeting, site visits / presentations, and a final review meeting.
  • Ask relevant questions to gather relevant information leading to an informed funding recommendation.
  • Express your views in panel discussion, especially while formulating a recommendation.
  • Understand and maintain the confidentiality of information and discussions shared between the panel and the agencies reviewed.  

 

Requirements

  • Flexible schedule during March and April in order to attend meetings and site visits / presentations.
  • Email and Internet access.

 

Duration

  • A Volunteer Orientation takes place the 1st week of March, followed by site visits and a final review meeting where the funding recommendations are made. The site visits/meeting schedule is determined by each panel at the Orientation and takes place throughout March and mid April.
  • Estimated total time: 20-30 hours.
