Who We Are

Our Mission Statement
To provide to low income families or families in crisis the essentials to establish or maintain a dignified standard of living while encouraging independence and self-sufficiency.

PVEN makes a difference in the lives of the people who are served and the community in which we live. When someone is helped with their physical needs, they can then focus on improving the quality of their whole life.

The help from PVEN allows the recipient to pursue emotional, social, educational, or spiritual goals with less worry about how physical needs will be met. Those served become independent, self-sufficient, and better citizens. Dignity is restored.

The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network is a tax-exempt, non-profit corporation located in the Western Pocono area of Monroe County, Pennsylvania supported by area churches and community service organizations.

What We Do

PVEN Food Pantry provides free groceries and related products to residents of the West End of Monroe County.  Typically, about 280 families receive food from PVEN every month (about 900 people overall).

PVEN also provides free clothing and household supplies to local residents when needed. Last year (2019) PVEN gave away over 25,000 pieces of clothing and household supplies.

Each summer, PVEN runs the Summer Lunch program (SFSP). This program provides a nutritious lunch to all children who attend the local parks and recreation centers where we have set up distribution centers.  During the school year, many children receive their one reliably nutritious meal every day.  This program works to make sure that pattern continues through the summer too.

PVEN also coordinates the Angel Tree and Toys for Tots program in the West End, under the auspices of the U.S. Marine Corps and with the assistance of various businesses and churches. Children are able to have a brighter Christmas and parents are able to have a burden lifted through the assistance of this program.

PVEN is a volunteer driven organization, with 70 active volunteers for regular programs (food and clothing) and another 30 special program volunteers.
