Who We Are

Located in downtown Stroudsburg, PA, the Monroe County Historical Association operates the 1795 Stroud Mansion Museum and Library. Jacob Stroud, the founder of Stroudsburg, built the Stroud Mansion for his son, and the Historical Association has been present at this historic landmark for over a century. In April of 2026, the organization will reopen following the construction of the Heritage Center expansion project. The Stroud Mansion Museum features four floors of exhibit rooms filled with treasures that highlight the rich, diverse, and vibrant history of Monroe County. The Library maintains a unique and extensive collection of genealogical materials, historical documents, books, photographs, and archival materials available to researchers. The Heritage Center includes a large community room for events, special exhibits, and educational opportunities, as well as a museum store offering books, maps, gifts, ornaments, and other items for history lovers.

What We Do
