Who We Are
The historic 1795 Stroud Mansion serves as the headquarters for the Monroe County Historical Association. Jacob Stroud, the founder of Stroudsburg, built the Stroud Mansion for his son. The Stroud Mansion museum offers four floors of exhibit space and galleries that highlight the history of Monroe County. Featured rooms include an authentic Colonial kitchen, the Stroud room, a Victorian parlor, as well as a military and medicine room, an antique toy room, and a textile collection. The Monroe County Historical Association also maintains an extensive and unique collection of genealogical records as well as local history reference materials in the Elizabeth D. Walters Library.
What We Do
The Monroe County Historical Association is a cultural and learning center that assists our diverse community of residents and visitors in connecting the county’s past with the present.
