Who We Are

Urban Ark Conservation is a young non-profit 501(c)3 organization founded and operated by an Army Veteran. Our mission is centered around wildlife preservation and the conservation of various endangered species of herpetofauna, and the conservation of endangered breeds of livestock.

What We Do

Using techniques of sustainability such as Aquaponics, Permaculture, and alternate energies, we are able to provide a green homestead that can be utilized as a tool to educate the community about conservation. Aquaponics and Permaculture are two alternative farming practices that provide environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional farming, while using 90 percent less water and zero harmful chemicals, providing a year round food production of fish, fruits, and vegetables. Aquaponics systems are globally known to produce more food in less space with zero runoff into waterways. Permaculture food forests work with the natural landscape and help to restore habitats, which entices the return of numerous species to the ecosystem, providing for pollinators, and growing an abundance of food. We gather electricity from solar panels, and heat the greenhouse by mean of geothermal heating. We call this Project: Homestead. The food produced here will go to local food banks, community kitchens, and various other organizations which provide food to the community. Sustainability is also a proven therapeutic practice for PTSD and addiction recovery.
