United Way advances the common good, creating opportunities for a better life for all, by focusing on the three key building blocks of education, income and health. The United Way movement creates long lasting community change by addressing the underlying causes of problems that prevent progress in these areas. LIVE UNITED is a call to action for everyone to become part of the change by giving, advocating and volunteering.
Everyone deserves opportunities to have a good life, good health, and a quality education that leads to a stable job and enough income to support a family through retirement. United Way’s work is about bringing the community together to move the needle on key issues affecting our community. When we focus our efforts and work together, we can create positive and measurable impact on the lives of those who are struggling most. Our comprehensive Community Needs Assessment and County Profile revealed that many of the challenges facing our community are due to a high cost of living (especially for housing) combined with relatively low wages. As Monroe County recovers from a recession that deeply impacted our community, United Way, together with our partners, have launched four Impact Initiatives to with the goal of supporting the financial stability of individuals and families across the county.
